How to Connect FTP or FTPS to CloudPairs

Before you start

Requirements

FTP host, port, username, and password.

Security mode: plain FTP, explicit TLS, or implicit TLS.

Firewall/NAT compatibility details if your server requires active mode.

Setup

Open Add Cloud Connection and select FTP / FTPS.

Add host, port, username, and password. Port 21 is common for FTP and explicit FTPS; port 990 is common for implicit FTPS.

Choose None, FTPS Explicit, or FTPS Implicit. CloudPairs updates the default port when you switch modes.

Passive mode works best for most home, office, and hosted-server networks.

Test the directory listing, then save the connection.

Best practices

Plain FTP is unencrypted. Prefer FTPS or SFTP for production systems.

Most NAT/firewall setups need passive mode for reliable data channels.

Troubleshooting

Toggle passive mode or ask the server admin about passive port ranges.

TLS handshake fails

Confirm whether the host expects explicit FTPS on 21 or implicit FTPS on 990.
